Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or other term entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Taylor County Court Docket does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is not disclosed outside the organization unless doing so is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site's systems may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates, times, and visit duration
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Pages viewed during the visit
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help measure traffic in aggregate, including which pages are used and where visits end. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which content is useful or needs improvement
- Operating, maintaining, and improving site performance
- Presenting advertising that may reflect user interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Taylor County Court Docket does not host, build, sell, or maintain a database of personal case records. It identifies official routes such as WVPASS, MCRSearch, the Taylor County Circuit Clerk, and the Magistrate Court Clerk. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or personal dossiers, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the selected company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner chooses its own retention and disclosure practices, which are outside this site's control. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court and clerk pages, statewide systems, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs through the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may still be disclosed to a limited set of service providers or authorities:
- Advertising networks that serve content on the pages
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal requirement
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard safeguards are used for information under this site's control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so an unauthorized access event can never be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights concerning personal data may vary with the law and the type of processing involved. Court-record access is a separate subject governed by West Virginia Code ยง51-4-2, while requests for qualifying public-body records may be governed by the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act. Subject to applicable law, a user may:
- Request access to personal information kept about them
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where available
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here and will display its new effective date.
